AFTER DARK
A luxury fashion editorial at the InterContinental Prague — evening gowns, marble, red carpet and candlelight. A series built as one cinematic world. One frame became the key visual of an international campaign across 8 markets.
Project file
A visual world as the production foundation.
AFTER DARK did not begin with clothing. It began with the atmosphere created between a figure, light and space — a late hour in a palatial interior where every gown belongs to its own world. Fashion is part of that world, which is why it never reads as a product on a mannequin.
The client supplied a collection of evening gowns. Freemason secured the location, casting, lighting plan and full production direction. The opulence of the setting met the precision of film production — the result is a series where each look stands on its own and as part of one story.
"The key element is not the gown or the pose. The atmosphere dominates. The late hour. Candlelight on marble. A woman who belongs in the space — not one who poses in it."
An editorial should not show clothing.
It should tell of the world in which that clothing makes sense. Project brief — AFTER DARK

Challenge
Not a clothing catalogue.
A world you believe in.
- Elevate the gown into a visual world — not merely document it on a mannequin
- Atmosphere and character as the primary message — fashion as part of the scene
- Hold the luxury register: candlelight, marble, gold — without kitsch and without a flat studio
- Looks that work on their own and as a series — and last beyond the season
Visual direction
Reality directed by light.
Cinematic luxury: a warm gold-amber palette, deep shadows and selective practical lights — chandeliers, candles, wall sconces. Every frame designed to read as a stilled film frame, not a product shot of a gown.
Marble, mirrors, red carpet and a smoky haze are not a backdrop — they are designed layers of the image. The space stops being a background and becomes a character. Shallow depth of field and a calm, confident presence keep attention on silhouette, fabric and expression.

Lighting design
Practical light.
Layers without chaos.
AFTER DARK is built on a mix of practical sources and controlled lighting: chandelier and candles hold the warm atmosphere in the scene, hidden sources model the figure and separate her from the background. Marble and gold bounce light back into the space — without losing detail in the fabric of the gown.
The result is an image that keeps the silhouette and fabric legible at any crop — from a full-page editorial to a square social format. The looks did not need to be tied to formats in advance.
Shadows are not a problem. They are a tool. They give the scene depth and a luxury register where a flat studio fails.
Production scope
From concept to delivery — one team, one responsibility.
Preproduction
Moodboard and shot list, model casting, coordination of styling, hair and make-up, alignment with the client's collection, and securing the location at the InterContinental Prague.
Production
2 production days. The first on 2 Dec 2023; driven by strong results, a larger series and one video were shot a few months later (the second production day). 4 specialists on set: photography, light, styling, hair & make-up, assistance. Every look directed with defined composition — silhouette and fabric in the lead role.
Finishing
Selection from around 150 frames. Skin and fabric retouching that preserves texture, colour grading in a gold-amber palette, contrast unification across the series, and format preparation for print, online and editorial.
Delivery
10 visuals in circulation: 1 lead key visual, 3 supporting visuals for online and brand identity, 5 for magazine editorial. Full intellectual property rights transfer — no recurring licence fees.
Final assets
Selected outputs.
